My name is Teunis Brosens. On this website I once kept track of mostly economics-related stuff that surprises and puzzles me, or puts a smile on my face. Also, I added my own publications and appearances.
I am ING‘s Head of Regulatory Analysis. As such, I focus on the impact of digital finance and innovation trends (such as fintech, bigtech platforms, digital currencies, the increasing importance of data, blockchain, disintermediation, the unbundling of banking services, …) on banks and the broader economy. I also translate these trends into priorities for ING to discuss with policymakers, regulators and supervisors.
In previous roles at ING, I have been researching the interplay between the financial sector and the real economy, in particular the relationships between balance sheets, credit, money, regulation and the economy (see e.g. this article or this one).
From 2006 till 2009 I was with the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets, the AFM, advising the Board on issues with regulatory, supervisory and economic dimensions. See e.g. this article and this Dutch one.
I started my career at the Dutch Central Bank, analysing the Dutch economy and European public finances (see e.g. this paper or this one). Even back then, European government finances weren’t a pretty sight. And it did not get particularly better afterwards.
I studied both economics and philosophy at Tilburg University.
